GPW PD: Lessons Learned from the UN mission in Mali, Somalia, South Sudan, DRC and Darfur

On 4 November 2019, as part of the Geneva Peace Week, the Effectiveness of Peace Operations Network (EPON), the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP), and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) co-organized a seminar on how peace operations can help to prevent conflict and contribute to achieving the SDGs.

The objective of the global Effectiveness of Peace Operations Network (EPON) is to improve research-based knowledge on the effectiveness of specific peace operations and the impacts they are having on the conflict systems they are trying to influence.

The panel discussed the emerging findings of the multiple assessments the Network pursued in 2018-2019 (Mali, DRC, Somalia and South Sudan), and EPON studies currently being undertaken (Darfur and Ukraine).

Moderator:

Ms Annika Hilding Norberg, GCSP (Geneva)

Speakers:

Dr Cedric de Coning, NUPI (Oslo)
Mr Ralph Mamyia, GCSP (Geneva)
